In Poor Health, Merle Haggard Cancels April Shows


NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Country legend Merle Haggard has canceled all of his scheduled concerts for April as he continues to recover from a persistent case of double pneumonia.

Haggard first revealed the illness in December and has been in and out of the hospital since, being forced to cancel dates in January, February and March. He made a brief return to the stage in February, but after an obviously difficult performance in Oakland, he again canceled dates.

“I want to thank my fans for their prayers and well wishes,” Merle said in a new official statement announcing the latest round of cancellations. “I hope to be back on the road in May, but I’m taking it one day at a time.”

Affected dates in the latest round of cancellations include Cape Girardeau, MO on April 7th; Springfield, Mo. on April 8th; St. Louis on April 9th; Independence, MO on April 11th; Park City, Kansas on April 12th; Enid, OK on April 13th and New Braunfels, TX on April 15-17.

According to Country Weekly, Haggard now plans to resume his tour on May 10th in in State University, Ark. – Staff Writers
