Greg Thompson Named To DMI's Advisory Board

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) –Digital Musicworks International, Inc, the world’s first all-digital, full-service music label, has added Greg Thompson, former general manager/executive vice president of Elektra Records, to the label’s advisory board. The addition of Thompson augments a growing list of music, entertainment, technology and media industry veterans who have joined the DMI management team and advisory board.

“Greg Thompson brings over 20 years of music industry experience to DMI.” said Mitchell Koulouris, CEO of DMI. “We are excited to be working with Greg to advance our strategic goals and vision for DMI. He has an exceptional reputation in the industry and we look forward to continued success with Greg on the team.”

Thompson’s background will help DMI continue to focus on how the industry-wide transition from traditional media to digital downloads will create new value for artists and consumers alike. In addition to Thompson, DMI’s Advisory Board consists of Gene Maillard, former president of the Grammy Foundation; Andre Lake Mayer, former vice president of marketing and merchandising at Lucasfilm and vice president of marketing at Paramount Pictures; Bob Gordon, entertainment law expert and a founder of A&M Records; and Colin Crawford, vice president of Business Development at International Data Group (IDG) and chairman of the board at MacPublishing LLC.

“DMI has built a model based on strategic relationships in the digital space as well as offering their artists a keen perspective in the evolution of music in the digital world,” said Thompson.

DMI also named Michael Vogel as the label’s new west coast director of marketing and promotion, and Eric Cole as east coast director of marketing and promotion. “We are thrilled to have Michael Vogel and Eric Cole join our promotion and marketing team,” said Roger Mayer, senior vice president of marketing and promotion at DMI. “Given the experience and national perspective they bring to the table, we are confident that the artists that make up DMI’s roster will be extraordinarily well served. Each possesses both a vast knowledge of the music industry and the vision to understand the industry’s digital future and the challenges and opportunities it affords.”

Vogel joins DMI with an extensive background in radio, marketing and interactive media, including a year with Clear Channel as Interactive data base marketing manager. While with Clear Channel, he worked with numerous divisions in developing and maintaining interactive marketing initiatives. Vogel also spent nine years with The Network Magazine Group as director of rock radio for The Album Network as well as a stint at Radio & Records as music research associate editor. At radio, Vogel has served as associate producer of “The Mark & Brian Program” on KLOS-FM in Los Angeles, music director/on-air personality at KTYD-FM in Santa Barbara and as an on-air personality at several stations, including KNAC.com as host of a weekly show on the internet.

Cole joins DMI after more than two years at Artemis Records in New York, most recently as senior director of rock promotion. While with Artemis, Cole was instrumental in the development of Steve Earle, The Pretenders, Jill Sobule and the late Warren Zevon. Prior to that, he was the label’s national director of rock promotion. Before joining Artemis, Cole spent three years at Concrete Marketing as head of the radio department. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
