Grand Ole Opry Star Rollin Sullivan Dead At 93

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Country music performer Rollin “Oscar” Sullivan, an alumni of the Grand Old Opry for more than 38 years as part of the duo Lonzo & Oscar, died in hospice on September 7th at the age of 93.

A Kentucky native, Sullivan got his start playing music with his brother Johnny, playing on the radio before joining Paul Howard’s Arkansas Cotton Pickers at the “Opry” in 1942.

The Sullivan Brothers also toured with Eddy Arnold, opening for the country legend and providing comedy relief during the show.

“He was a fine mandolin player,” Grand Ole Opry MC Eddie Stubbs told the Nashville Tennessean. “His playing was melodic, clean and commercial. There was nothing funny about Lonzo & Oscar’s singing and playing: They laid it down.” – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
