Godsmack Drummer Tommy Stewart Leaves Group

Godsmack founding drummer Tommy Stewart has split from the band, just as they begin work on an upcoming album, the band's Web site reports. Stewart will pursue other musical opportunities. The split was mutual.

"Tommy is a great guy and a tremendous drummer," said lead vocalist Sully Erna. We wish him all the success in the world … he deserves it."

The band has an upcoming date July 27 at Rolling Rock Town Fair in Latrobe, PA.
