Global Spectrum Renews Rose Garden Deal

PORTLAND, OR (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Global Spectrum will continue to manage the Rose Garden for another year, after renewing their deal with the Portland Trail Blazers and team-owner Vulcan Sports and Entertainment.

Vulcan and the Rose Garden are owned by Paul Allen.

Mike Golub, the Blazers’ chief operating officer, said Vulcan decided to keep Global Spectrum for another year to smooth the transition between the team’s old and new management. Golub and president Larry Miller recently joined the NBA team. Vulcan had been considering dropping Global Spectrum for AEG this year, and will reevaluate arena operations before the end of this contract, according to the Oregonian.

“In the end, we thought it was the right thing for our fans to keep the continuity,” Golub told the paper. He declined to reveal the amount of the contract, but said it was “a market-rate deal.”

Global Spectrum has operated the arena since 2005, when Vulcan and Allen forfeited ownership in bankruptcy proceedings. Over that time, Global Spectrum boosted concerts and events at the Rose Garden and Memorial Coliseum and sold suites, signage and courtside seats in the arena.
