Glastonbury Festival May Issue ID Card Tickets

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The BBC reported yesterday that Michael Eavis, organizer of the Glastonbury Festival, is considering using photo identification cards in place of traditional tickets at next year’s event.

The ID cards are a response to the increasing black market demand for tickets. Each card will have a photo of the concert-goer printed on the front and contain chip encoded with personal information. "Rather than a ticket, it will be like an entrance card, and it really is to try to limit forgeries and touting," said Eavis’ daughter, Emily.

Tickets to this year’s festival had purchasers’ names printed on them and attendees were asked to bring along identification to verify that the ticket had not been transferred. According to the BBC, however, some scalpers are getting around this security measure simply by offering to provide a matching ID along with the tickets. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
