Frontman Jae-Beom Quits Korean Boy Band 2PM

SEOUL, South Korea (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Jae-beom, the front man of the popular boy band 2PM quit the band and split for the U.S. after the band became embroiled in a controversy over some ugly comments he made on his MySpace page in 2005.

Jae-Beom announced that he was leaving the band in a posting on the band's official website.

"I'm sorry to give you this last greeting through this letter. I think it will be hard for me to go on stage and see you because of my remorseful heart. I’m very sorry to everyone, and even sorrier to fans who have given me their love. Starting today, I will be leaving 2PM." Jae-Beom wrote

Jae-Beom has been with the group since 2008 and it has developed into one of the most popular 'boy bands' in South Korea.

Jae-Beom, who was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, auditioned and joined the band's management and developer JYP Entertainment and auditioned in the US. He was subsequently brought to Korea where he underwent extensive coaching to improve his Korean singing. Apparently, he was a less than enthusiastic transplant however and commented on his MySpace page to a friend that he thought "Korea is gay. I hate Koreans. I wanna come back."

The comments surfaced only recently and since then, Korean fans turned on Jae-Beom and Korean television channel Mnet decided to indefinitely postpone the broadcast of the final episode of the band's reality show "Wild Bunny."

Plans for JYP Entertainment to release the band's full length album next month as also been shelved.

"As for 2PM, there are no plans of getting a replacement for Jae-Beom. 2PM will stop all its activities as of now" a rep from JYP told the Korean Times. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
