BUFFALO, NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Buffalo's First Niagara Center will soon have a new moniker, KeyBank Center, Sabres President Russ Brandon said in a statement.
The name change comes not as a part of a new naming rights sponsorship deal, but after Federal regulators approved a merger between First Niagara Financial Group and KeyCorp.
First Niagara holds the naming rights for the arena through 2026. The venue's new name and signage should be in place in time for the beginning of the 2016-17 NHL Season.
The 19,000-capacity arena serves as a home for the NHL hockey team the Buffalo Sabres. Upcoming concerts at the venue include Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber and Drake. – Staff Writers
