Eagles Help Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium Take Flight

The Eagles have become the group du jour to launch new venues. In addition to opening the American Airlines Center in Dallas July 28, the group has agreed to do the same honors to inaugurate Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver on Aug. 11.

Band manager Irving Azoff told the Rocky Mountain News that they had no intention of working anywhere in the U.S. "We're doing Europe (May 29-July 22) to keep the band tight, work on the new material and go into the studio in the fall.

"We think it's a historic moment. We couldn't say no," Azoff continued. "The guys were very touched to be asked."

"It's not enough to build it. You have to launch it," said Tim Romani, executive director of the Metropolitan Stadium District and a longtime Eagles fan. "We feel like we have come up with the appropriate act, fitting the moment."

The group will perform at the sound end of the field with an audience in a 180-degree configuration. The show's capacity is 55,000.

The ticket on-sale and prices will be announced at a later date.
