DTE Energy Music Theatre Posts Strongest Season Ever


The numbers have are in. DTE Energy Music Theatre (formerly Pine Knob) in Auburn Hills, Mich. logged the most sold out shows and highest attendance average to date from its 2001 summer season. The venue's 17 July capacity crowds also represented its most successful month ever for sellouts.

Overall, the venue entertained more than 925,000 concertgoers and sold out 30 of its 77 shows in 2001, for an average attendance of more than 12,000.

This summer's list of concerts with capacity crowds included: WDRQ Summer Heat Rave (May 25); The Black Crowes and Oasis with Spacehog (June 2); Lynyrd Skynyrd and Deep Purple (June 28); Styx and Bad Company with Billy Squier and Joe Stark (July 6); Journey with Peter Frampton and John Waite (July 10-11); Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers with Jackson Browne (July 12); Aerosmith with Fuel (July 13); Bon Jovi with Eve 6 (July 15-16); Blink-182 with New Found Glory and Bodyjar (July 18); Creedence Clearwater Revisited with Crowbar Hotel (July 20); Randy Travis with Phil Vassar (July 22); James Taylor & Band (July 23); AREA: ONE Festival (July 24); Rod Stewart (July 25); Tim McGraw with Kenny Chesney and Mark Collie (July 26-27); OZZfest (July 30-31); 98 Degrees (Aug. 6); Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Sara Evans, Jamie O'Neal and Carolyn Dawn Johnson (Aug. 9); matchbox twenty with Train and Old 97's (Aug. 10); Crosby, Stills & Nash – pavilion only sold (Aug. 13); Godsmack and deftones (Aug. 20); MTV's TRL Tour starring Destiny's Child, Nelly, Eve, Dream, 3LW and St. Lunatics (Aug. 23); Barenaked Ladies (Aug. 25); John Mellencamp with The Wallflowers (Aug. 28); Huey Lewis & The News (August 30) and Vertical Horizon (Sept.1).
