Doll Hut’s Detrimental Discovery

ANAHEIM, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Doll Hut in Anaheim, California, a storied club known for helping to launch SoCal rock banks to prominence, has reportedly been operating illegally for over two decades.

The club was purchased by Juan Reynoso six months ago, who subsequently discovered that the historical venue did not have the proper permits to host and charge for the punk, rockabilly and alternative concerts that had been filling the former truckstop almost every night.

City officials told Reynoso that unless he met conditions to obtain a $250 “public dance hall” license, he would be unable to charge customers to see live music.

Reynoso has since dropped his cover charge and stopped paying acts, but has been unable to draw customers since.

“Without the bands, I don’t have the customers,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “Most nights, this place is dead.”

A city planning commission could rule on the Doll Hut’s fate this week.

As word of the club’s problem spread, the local music community rallied around it, with bands volunteering to fill vacant dates and bring in crowds to keep the bar afloat. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
