The Dixie Chicks will star in their first primetime television concert special in two years to be telecast this December on NBC. The trio – singer Natalie Maines and sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire–will perform songs from their third album, “Home (Open Wide/Columbia/Monument),” which will be released August 27, as well as hits from their debut album, “Wide Open Spaces,” and their second album, “Fly.” Shot during a sold-out two-night concert at Los Angeles’ Kodak Theater on August 15–16, the special will bring the Chicks unparalleled musical style to a national television audience for the first time in two years.
Produced and directed by Joel Gallen (“America: A Tribute to Heroes,” “The MTV Movie Awards”), the special is a presentation from Tenth Planet Productions in association with Woolly Puddin’ Films LLC. Gallen also produced and directed the Chicks’ debut television special, “Dixie Chicks: On the Fly,” which aired on NBC on November 20, 2000 and scored the highest adult 18-49 rating, a 4.9, of any concert special telecast that season. Twelve million viewers watched an average minute of "Dixie Chicks: On the Fly."
