DiMA’s Jonathan Potter Announces Resignation

WEB CONTROL (Hypebot) –
Jonathan Potter announced on Thursday that he is resigning as Executive Director of the Digital Media Association (DiMA) effective December 31st. The DiMA, which is the main advocate for webcasters, online media and digital services was founded by Potter in 1998; and helped lead the industry through a tumultuous fight to revamp laws and royalty structures to fit the new digital era.

“I am grateful to DiMA’s member companies for allowing me to serve them – and their innovative technologies and services and their passionate people – for so long and in so many exciting ways. I hope that my next adventure is as challenging and rewarding,” said Potter in a statement.

The DiMA Board of Directors has engaged a consulting firm to assist in the search for a new Executive Director and during the transition, General Counsel, Lee Knife, will assume the role of Interim Executive Director. Greg Barnes will continue as Director, Government Affairs, and he and Director, Communications & Member Programs Sheri Lapan will work with Knife in the transition of all legislative and government affairs efforts.

The Board issued the following statement: “Jon helped serve the needs of new media companies, entrepreneurs and innovators in Washington during the early days of our industry. He has contributed greatly to the organization’s development and to the industry’s approach to a unique and complex set of legal and policy issues. The DiMA Board and staff appreciate Jon’s service, and we wish him great success.”
