Digital Musicworks International Debuts; Dwight Twilley Signed

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Digital Musicworks International has launched the world’s first all-digital, full-service music label. In addition, DMI announced the signing of Dwight Twilley and redlightmusic, fronted by ex-Candlebox guitarist and songwriter Peter Klett.

“We’re very excited to launch DMI today as the world’s first next-generation music label,” said DMI’s CEO Mitchell Koulouris. “After listening to and studying the artist community for years, it’s clear that there is a strong opportunity to deliver more value to both artists and consumers alike by embracing and building upon the digital download format.”

Through DMI’s digital-only music distribution model, artists are able to have greater creative control, flexibility and influence over their music. Artists can now not only set their delivery schedule, they have greater flexibility with the amount of music they produce and the frequency at which they produce it. Finally, artists have the opportunity to release music such as live, acoustic, or “caught-in-the-act” versions of their songs. The result is artists receive higher royalties, more frequently, and with greater business transparency than in the past.

“This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for,” said Twilley. “DMI is a breath of fresh air for artists everywhere. As an artist, not only do I gain creative control over my music and receive higher royalties, but I also benefit from traditional marketing and radio promotion as well. It’s the perfect label for what artists are looking for today and tomorrow.”

DMI was the first label to sign on with MSN’s new online Music Store, www.music.msn.com. In addition to MSN Music, DMI has also partnered with as iTunes, Napster, Real Music Store, Sony Connect, MusicMatch, and TowerRecords.com.

“We’re very excited to have DMI consistently providing new tracks to MSN Music,” said Christine Andrews, lead product manager MSN division at Microsoft Corp. “One of our key objectives for MSN Music is to provide music fans with strong tools and resources to discover new music, and we feel that the addition of DMI and its broad range of artists and genres will be a key factor in helping us achieve that goal.”

In addition to its own artists, Digital Musicworks International is partnering with many independent labels and independent artists to act as their digital music distributor. With DMI’s access to the major online music stores, independent labels and artists can quickly and easily distribute their music digitally worldwide. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane
