Days Of The New Reform With Original Lineup

CHARLESTOWN, Indiana (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The original founding members of the alt acoustic rock outfit Days of the New have announced that they are reforming with plans for a new album and a tour in 2014.

Travis Meeks (vocals/ guitar), Todd Whitener (guitar), Jesse Vest (bass), and Matt Tau (drums), Days of the New first made a splash with their eponymously-titled 1997 release, sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide. Three songs from this album were hits: "Touch, Peel and Stand," "The Down Town," and "Shelf in the Room." The first was No. 1 on Billboard's Rock Chart for 17 weeks; "The Down Town" and "Shelf in the Room" were each top 40 hits and ”Enemy” also saw heavy rotation on the radio.

Despite their success, the band was soon dogged by stories of internal strife, with some reports even suggesting that the band had been involved in a brawl. A tour in late 1998 was canceled and it was announced in early 1999 that the band had split.

Now, 15 years later, the band is back in full swing with their original lineup. Booking agent Mike Rand tells CelebrityAccess that they will be in the studio soon to record newly written material and that an announcement about a tour for 2014 will be forthcoming.
