David Copperfield Shatters Records In China – 200,000 Fans Deliver $15 Million Dollar Pot Of Gold

Los Angeles, CA – August 8, 2002 – Publicist’s for David Copperfield report to CelebrityAccess that the world's greatest magician, David Copperfield, completed a record-breaking four-week tour of China with 29 shows, in four cities, attended by over 200,000 people.

In an unprecedented tour by a western artist, Copperfield, who back in 1986 magically walked THROUGH the Great Wall of China in a CBS-TV Network special, this time roared through Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.

Over 200,000 people attended the shows, which were highlighted by over 80,000 people at the Beijing Capital Arena and more than 62,000 fans at the Shanghai Grand Stage. Ticket prices ranged from $240 to $70 (U.S.) generating gross sales of over 15 million dollars.

Ticket sales momentum would have given promoters the ability to add additional shows to the sold out run, but culturally, the Chinese found it unfathomable that any artist would perform three shows in one day; standard fare for a Copperfield tour.

The tour was produced by Global Entertainment Group, Inc. based in Las Vegas and Magic Arts & Entertainment Inc of Cleveland, Ohio.

Said Bob Cayne, President of Global Entertainment Group, Inc. "Having mastered the labyrinth of licensing, permit and currency demands, our partnership is perfectly positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for concert tours in Mainland China."
