Danny Zausner To Head USTA National Tennis Center

Effective October 1, industry veteran Danny Zausner will take over as director of facility operations for the USTA National Tennis Center. For the next few months, Zausner will work closely with current Director of the NTC, David Meehan (who announced his retirement last week) on a consulting basis.

In his new position, Zausner will be responsible for all operations at the USTA National Tennis Center, home of the US Open. His duties will include overseeing the day-to-day management and development of the 46.5 acre facility including the 33 courts and surrounding grounds to the three main stadia; the 22,000 seat Arthur Ashe Stadium, 10,000 seat Louis Armstrong Stadium, and 5,000 seat grandstand. Additionally, he will also oversee the ticketing operations for the US Open, as well as the exploration and development of possible expansion plans for the site in the future. Zausner will also look to expand the use of the venue for additional sports and entertainment related events.

Zausner has 17 years in the venue and event management business with Ogden Entertainment and Metropolitan Entertainment Group, one of the last major independent concert promoters. He most recently served as senior VP at Ogden that included supervision of more than 60 managed venues including Arrowhead Pond-Anaheim, Corel Center – Ottawa, Ontario; Target Center-Minneapolis, Olympic Stadium-Sydney, and the World Trade Center Observation Deck-NY. During his tenure at Ogden, he served as the on-site supervisor of the design, development, construction, and opening of Arena Oberhausen, a 13,000 seat arena in Germany.

Prior to Ogden, Zausner spent 10 years at Metropolitan Entertainment, where he supervised all aspects of the company's live event business including management of box offices, facility operations, concert promotions, and event bookings. In addition, he planned and directed many of the major logistical aspects of Woodstock '94.

"Danny brings a vast amount of experience in all aspects of facilities management and event operations to the USTA," said Arlen Kantarian, USTA Chief Executive, Professional Tennis. "In addition, his experience in booking and promoting events fits very well with our long range plans to continue to expand and develop the facility not only as the most state-of-the-art tennis complex in the world, but into a venue that can serve a variety of functions for the sports and entertainment fans of the City of New York."
