Curb Records Acquires Word Entertainment

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Curb Records has acquired all of Warner Music Group's majority stake in the Christian faith-based entertainment company Word Entertainment. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed and Word’s printed music division was not included, leaving it a jointly owned venture by WMG and Curb.

Included in the deal were Word's record label, music distribution and publishing company, as well as the company's other entertainment concerns, which include teleivsion, film and live events, Billboard reported. The deal also includes the Word Building, which expands Curb's footprint in Nasvhille.

WMG will continue to handle distribution for Word releases on the general market, and Word will return the favor for WMG's releases for the Christian market. Word’s publishing catalog will also continue to be administered by Warner/Chappell.

Word Entertainment president and CEO Rod Riley will continue to oversee the company.

Word Entertainment is currently the label home to artists such as for KING & COUNTRY, Girls of Grace, Sidewalk Prophets, Skillet, Switchfoot, We Are Messengers and Dara Maclean. – Staff Writers
