Cube Clients Get Added Security With Backstage Passes

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Cube Services has been helping their customers reduce the number of backstage passes sold online and often times actually buys back passes they produced.

Cube Creative Director Mark McKinnon said most of the passes for sale on the Internet are actually memorabilia, but if the band is still touring selling a pass constitutes copyright infringement.

“Its mostly people who work the show. They get a pass and as soon as they get home, its up on E-bay,” McKinnon told CelebrityAccess. When they find a Cube pass online, the first step is to contact the seller and request that the item is taken down. McKinnon noted that this is often met with hostility, at which point Cube will send out a cease and desist order. If the person still refuses to take down the pass he said, “We will take legal action.”

Cube also has high tech solutions to reduce scalping, for those who can afford it. “Making sure our passes aren’t sold online is a way for our customers who can’t afford the high tech options to still be secure in the knowledge that only authorized people will be backstage.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
