Court Gives MCD The Nod To Pursue Prince Across Europe

DUBLIN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — MCD has been given a court order that gives them a little bite in their pursuit of €2.2 million judgment against Prince over a cancelled concert in Dublin in 2008.

According to the Irish Times, Justice Peter Kelly granted MCD a European Enforcement Order that will allow them to make a claim on any income that Prince earns from concerts or other sources in European nations in order to satisfy the outstanding judgement against him.

A European Enforcement Order allows a party to enforce foreign judgements within the European Union without the need of an intermediate proceeding, allowing the ruling of the Irish court to be applicable in any member-nation of the European Union.

The suit was brought against Prince in the wake of a failed 2008 concert in Ireland, promoted by MCD, which the singer backed out of at the last minute. Prince maintained, through a written statement provided to the court, that he had not confirmed the date with MCD and that he considered it still in the 'negotiation' phase. Prince's reps at the William Morris Agency, MCD and, ultimately, the court believed that he had confirmed the gig and ruled against the Purple One. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
