Coldplay Confirmed For 50th Superbowl Halftime Show


NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Coinciding with the release of their latest album "A Head Full of Dreams" the NFL announced on Thursday evening that alt rockers Coldplay will perform during halftime for Super Bowl 50.

According to the NFL, the show will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the big game, recognizing the past of the storied sporting event with the inclusion of other, yet-to-be-announced artists.

As well, halftime sponsors Pepsi are organizing a digital mini-series, "Pepsi Presents: The Super Bowl Halftime Show Show" that will offer fans a first-time behind the scenes look at how the halftime show is created and produced and which will be presented on Pepsi's website.

The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is widely consided to be the most-watched musical event of the year. More than 118.5 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's show, marking the most-watched Halftime Show ever. The Super Bowl and Halftime Show will be broadcast worldwide this year from Levi's Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Coldplay joins a list of recent halftime acts including Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Madonna, The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, U2 and more. – Staff Writers
