Clear Channel's Instant Live Program Adds New Markets

(CelebrityAccess News Service) — Clear Channel Entertainment is expanding its Instant Live program to include three new markets – Odeon in Cleveland, OH; Cotton Club in Atlanta, and the Fillmore in San Francisco.

Cleveland’s Odeon is the first new Instant Live “regional rig.” On opening night March 9, Instant Live recorded, duplicated, packaged and sold the live recording of Dicky Betts’ performance to fans within five minutes after the end of the show. CD’s were delivered to fans within 5 minutes after the end of the show. Nearly one quarter of the audience purchased the CD on their way out the door.

For fans who could not attend the show, Instant Live recordings can be purchased on the instantliveconcerts.com web site and at participating retailers throughout the country. Instant Live is distributed nationally through Toothface Distribution. Instant Live concert downloads will be made available in the very near future.

Additional Instant Live regional club rigs are scheduled to open within the next month at the Cotton Club in Atlanta and the Fillmore in San Francisco. Although rigs will be housed at these venues, they are mobile and will be utilized to take advantage of recording opportunities throughout their respective regions.

“Instant Live has been so well-received by both artists and fans and we are thrilled to be able to bring it to additional cities,” said Steve Simon, Clear Channel Entertainment music division executive vice president and director of the Instant Live program. “This provides artists with an opportunity to offer their fans something special and to create a new revenue stream on very favorable terms without financial risk. Our club rigs also provide smaller acts with an innovative way to create new recordings and access to national retail distribution that would not otherwise be available to them.”

Instant Live launched in February 2003, initially in Boston, as a way for fans to purchase a CD recording of the concert they just attended before they left the venue. Instant Live concerts are recorded using state-of-the-art technology, including a combination of ambient microphones and feeds from the soundboard. During summer 2003, Instant Live recorded the Allman Brothers Band and moe. in theaters and amphitheaters across the country. – Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
