A little bit of Las Vegas is coming to Clear Channel Entertainment and House of Blues Concerts amphitheaters.
VEGAS.com has inked deals with Clear Channel's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater and Glen Helen
Blockbuster Pavilion, and HOB's Universal Amphitheatre and Coors Amphitheatre, all in southern California, to stage play-for-fun casinos during the 2002 concert season. VEGAS.com plans to roll out the concept nationally.
The casinos include blackjack tables, craps tables and roulette tables, and are operational during pre-show and intermission. HOB launches the program April 27 at Universal Amphitheatre and April 28 at Coors Amphitheater, and will be available at select concerts.
As part of the CCE agreement,
VEGAS.com customers may purchase entertainment packages that include VIP concert access.
"The innovative marketing concept to take gaming for fun and combine it with live
entertainment – outside the confines of Vegas – is part of a multi-million dollar
investment for VEGAS.com" said Howard Lefkowitz, president of VEGAS.com.
"We are `Vegasizing' these venues, with the thrill of casino play for fun."
"We look forward to having VEGAS.com add the excitement of Vegas for music
fans attending concerts at two of our amphitheaters in Southern California in 2002,"
added Mike Gullo, CCE director of sponsorship. "This marketing approach, allowing tens of thousands of
individuals to sample a part of Vegas, is an ideal way to reach the southern
California entertainment audience."
Daniel Segal, vice president of corporate partnerships for House of Blues Concerts, said, "VEGAS.com is the type of partner we look for at House of Blues Concerts. They are focused on enhancing
our patrons' experience and enjoyment while attending concerts at our venues."
Currently, 26% of visitors to Vegas come from the Los Angeles area, the majority
by car.
