NORFOLK, VA (CelebrityAccess) — The Virginia Arts Festival has announced that a March 15th concert by Irish folk legends The Chieftains has been cancelled due to injury.
In a press statement, the organization announced that the band had to cancel due to an unspecified injury sustained over the weekend by founding member Paddy Moloney.
The statement said: "Moloney is recovering well but is restricted from traveling at this time based on medical advice. We wish Paddy a speedy recovery and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to fans of The Chieftains!"
The group had been slated to perform in the show at Chrysler Hall as a part of St. Patrick's Day festivities. Upcoming shows include a three night stint at the Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, from March 18-20th, however, no word has been announced about those dates.
The 77-year old Moloney, known for his finesse with the tin whistle, leads the Irish group and has performed on all of their albums.- Staff Writers
