Carpenter Center To Undergo $25 Million Renovation

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Virginia’s Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts will be closing for renovations following a $1.13 million gift from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, which fulfilled a $2 million pledge. The Philadelphia-based foundation also forgave a $375,000 loan from 1988, and gave $500,000 to The Virginia Performing Arts Foundation.

The theater in Richmond along with the Performing Arts Foundation is using the $25 million renovation to build a greater performing arts complex in the city, with it as the center. The Carpenter Center has become a landmark in the area. The 2-year renovation plan includes many expansions and upgrades. While the Carpenter Center is closed, the nearby Landmark Theater will host many of the regular events. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
