Canada's National Music Center New Home To Open On July 1st

CALGARY, Alberta (CelebrityAccess) — Canada's National Music Centre is preparing for the debut of Studio Bell on July 1st, or Canada Day as it is known by our friends north of the border.

This new state-of-the-art facility, designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture, is the first national cultural institution dedicated to all forms of Canadian music. Located in the heart of Calgary’s East Village, the complex, consisting of 9 interlocking towers, will house five floors of exhibition space with an impressive collection of musical instruments, equipment and artifacts that span over 450 years of technology and innovation; Canadian music memorabilia; and three Canadian music halls of fame.

“Studio Bell will be one of Canada’s most significant national institutions, inspiring new generations of musicians and music lovers and catalyzing the redevelopment of Calgary’s East Village as a core urban district,” said NMC President and CEO Andrew Mosker. “We are ecstatic to finally reveal this remarkable facility and its potential to music lovers from home and away.”

Construction of Studio Bell began in early 2013 and is on track to cost $191 million, more than $130 million of which has been raised by NMC through its capital campaign.

To mark the facility's opening, Studio Bell’s Premier Founding Partner Bell Canada is presenting free public admission on July 1, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Studio Bell will also be hosting special Canada Day programming for the opening festivities.
