According to The Daily Advertiser, the venue has been in need of a repairs for the roof for more than three years, but the venue lacked the $1.2 million needed to for the cleaning and resealing that the roof requires.

Cajundome Director Greg Davis told The Daily Advertiser that a hotel/motel tax the state rebates to the Cajundome is being used to issue bonds and generate the $1.2 million to pay to address the roof.

The repairs will see the protective rubber coating on the roof via pressure washer, and then the mildew and dirt cleaned from the exterior before the roof is sealed again. Davis told The Daily Advertiser that the roof repairs were three years overdue.

"We would have enjoyed doing this more timely," Davis told the newspaper.

The repairs to the roof are in addition to more than $16 million in renovation work inside of the arena, which are set to begin in May, 2016. – Staff Writers
