David Bowie is the latest musician considering adapting his oeuvre to a Broadway
musical. The New York Post reports that Bowie wants to stage a play based on his
songs, following in the footsteps of Billy Joel ("Movin Out"), ABBA ("Mamma Mia!")
and The Who ("Tommy").
"I'm reaching an age at the moment where all I really want to do is interpret my songs,"
Bowie said. "I may turn back to the
theater again."
Bowie's 1974's "Diamond Dogs," inspired by George Orwell's "1984,"
was considered a rock opera by some.
