Boss Ice Arena Employee Charged With Theft

KINGSTON, RI (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Providence Journal reported earlier today that Ryan Mosher, a 24-year-old employee of the University of Rhode Island’s ice rink, has been charged with stealing close to $7,000.

Mosher, hired by Global Spectrum as the facility coordinator, was in charge of booking for the Brad Boss Ice Arena. A joint effort between the financial crime unit of the Rhode Island State Police and an internal audit staff from URI revealed that three different times Mosher asked customers to give him money directly and changed the amount of time they rented the ice.

While the estimated theft amount from the university’s internal audit was $3,000 more than the police estimate, it also turned up two deposits into ice arena accounts. The first deposit for $5,140 was made by Mosher and another $4,760 was deposited by Global Spectrum.

In response to whether or not URI will continue to use Global Spectrum to manage their facility the university’s vice president of administration, Robert A. Weygand, told the Providence Journal, “This event raised some additional concerns.” Weygand then went on to say that he was pleased with Global Spectrum’s reaction to what happened. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
