B'estFest To Be Replaced By Concert Series In 2010

BUCHAREST (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Organizers for the Romanian festival B'estFest, one of the biggest of such events in eastern Europe, have announced that the festival will be on hiatus for the year, citing the continuing effects of the global economic downturn.

"B'estFest increased every year, and an event of this size requires huge costs, which in a market affected by the restriction of marketing and advertising budgets can not be sustained solely from the sale of tickets." organizers wrote in a post on the festival's website.

First held in 2007, the three-day camper has attracted more than 150,000 in the three years it was staged, featuring artists such as Franz Ferdinand, Santana, The Killers, Motorhead and others.

Faithless, the one band that had announced for the 2010 lineup, will still be playing a July 16 gig at the Iolanda Balas Soter Stadium in Bucharest as part of what festival organizers described as a two-day series of concerts by major international artists to give festival fans a chance to "relive the spirit of the festival." The concerts series is sponsored by beer maker Ciuc Premium will be called the Ciuc Premium Summer Fest. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
