BDO To Remain In Gold Coast

GOLD COAST, Australia (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — An eleventh-hour deal has paved the way for the Big Day Out festival to remain on the Gold Coast for at least 5 more years.

The touring festival has been making a stop on the Gold Coast since 1994, but organizers were considering dropping the date from the festival's itinerary next year when construction will make staging the festival at its current home in Parklands a no-go.

However, according to the Mail-Courier, a deal has been reached to keep the festival after a last-minute meeting between Jann Stuckey and BDO CEO Adam Zammitt. While a new venue for the festival next year has yet to be determined, a number of prospective sites are under consideration and an annoucement is expected next week.

The festival, produced by Creative Festival Entertainment, an Australian based partnership between Ken West and C3 Presents, features a linup this year that is headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
