Aretha Franklin Postpones Toronto Show Over Health Issues

TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Aretha Franklin, the putative queen of soul, has postponed an upcoming concert due to health issues.

Franklin had been slated to perform at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto on July 1st, but shelved the date "per doctor’s orders,” according to the venue’s website.

According to the show's promoters, Franklin will make the date up in 2018 as a part of the Toronto Jazz Fest.

Franklin has postponed or canceled numerous dates in recent years due to health concerns. At a recent show in Detroit earlier this month, she asked the audience to "keep her in your prayers," and appeared to be in fragile condition, needing to sit several times during the performance, according to the Detroit Free News

As well, Franklin in February announced that she was planning to step back from active touring after 2017 and "take it easy" which now includes, apparently, performing at the Toronto Jazz Festival in 2018. – Staff Writers
