Approved Mission Bay Arena Sees First Legal Opposition

SAN FRANCISCO (CelebrityAccess) –The San Francisco Board of Supervisors may have approved the proposed Golden State Warriors arena, however, the first lawsuit has already been filed to halt the $1 billion build. According to the San Francisco Chronicle this is more than likely the first of many suits to derail the arena.

This first suit was filed under the name of Mission Bay Alliance, an opposition group unpleased with the approved arena in San Francisco’s Mission Bay area. Jennifer Wade, the mother of a child who receives treatments at the children’s hospital in the medical center and Bruce Spaulding are the consultants according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The 18,500-seat Mission Bay arena will be one block from the huge UCSF medical center that opened early this year and several large UCSF Mission Bay donors have said the sports and event complex could cause dangerous gridlock.

The threat of lawsuits has been part of the antiarena case from the start, and legal challenges to the environmental impact report are expected as well. Team officials have said that they intend to have the arena up and running for the 2018-19 season.
