Alex Omes Autopsy Report Released

MIAMI (CelebrityAccess) — A posthumous toxicology report revealed that Ultra Music Festival co-founder Alex Omes had a cocktail of illicit drugs in his system at the time of death.

According to the Miami New-Times, the report, released by Miami-Dade County's Medical Examiner showed traces of a variety of drugs and health issues. While stopping short of declaring a definitive cause of death, the autopsy report showed that Omes had had an enlarged heart and liver, swelling around the brain due to excess fluids, and fluids in his lungs. Omes' autopsy also revealed that he had amphetamines, ketamine, cocaine, and GHB in his system at the time of death.

While homicide did visit the scene of Omes death, a police spokesperson told the New-Times that it was not an active investigation.

"It's not a homicide; it's considered an unclassified death. No homicide investigation was performed," Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said.

Omes was found dead in his bed on January 12, 2015, just one day before the start of his lawsuit against the organizers of Ultra Music, which he co-founded but later claimed to have been forced out of.

Omes’ estate, overseen by his brother, has continued with its lawsuit against Ultra, but last week, a court ruled against the estate, deciding that because there was no enforceable employment contract between Ultra and Omes, his estate had no rights to the event. The ruling is being appealed.

Ultra Music is set to return to Miami next week, with a projected attendance of 165,000. – Staff Writers
