AEG To Develop Major New Outdoor Venue In San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — AEG has announced that its working to develop a new outdoor concert venue in San Diego, near Qualcomm Stadium.

According to the Union Tribune, the new location, to be known as AEG Live Concerts on the Green will have a general admission capacity of 13,000, making it the third-largest venue in San Diego County.

Constructed on a 200,000 square foot field, the venue will be located near Qualcomm's parking facilities and a traffic stop, providing easy access, which will be handy as AEG is planning to stage an annual outdoor concert series at the venue.

"The deal came together very easily, and we anticipate total net revenues to be about $500,000 a year for the city," said Erik Stover, Qualcomm Stadium's general manager. "AEG is being very aggressive, nationwide, to compete with Live Nation, and we're happy to participate in that."

San Diego has been an area of focus for AEG, evidenced by the acquisition earlier this year bringing on John Wojas, formerly the head talent buyer of Viejas Entertainment and Wojas has subsequently been instrumental in bringing major tours like Hannah Montana, Fall Out Boy and Ozzy Osbourne to the market. Their principle competitor Live Nation also has a strong presence in the area and operates a popular House of Blues club in addition to larger facilities like Coors Amphitheatre. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
