STERLING HEIGHTS, Michigan (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — After a long hiatus, the Freedom Hill Amphitheatre is on the way to re-opening in 2013 under new management and a new promoter.
Starting in June 2013, AEG will be promoting shows at the 7,200-person capacity outdoor arena, starting with a June 13rd performance by Lady Antebellum.
The venue itself will be managed and operated by a consortium of buisnesses including Andiamo Restaurant Group and Luna Entertainment.
Freedom Hill shuttered in 2009 amidst a legal battle between Freedom Hill's former promoter Hillside Productions and Macomb County. Since then, local business leaders have worked on finding a partner to re-launch the shed.
"Really, the reason this is going to work is AEG," Andiamo owner Joe Vicari told the Detroit News. "If we did not get AEG Live, (Freedom Hill) would not be opening." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
