AEG Signs With StubHub For Secondary Market Sales

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — AEG has signed a deal online auction giant eBay that will see eBay subsidiary StubHub become the exclusive secondary ticket marketplace for AEG's venues and the AXS ticketing platform.

Starting in the first quarter of 2013, StubHub will be the exclusive secondary ticketing marketplace for venues such as the Staples Center (L.A.), The Sprint Center (Kansas City, MO), BBVA Compass Stadium (Houston), The Warfield (San Francisco), Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE and Best Buy Theater (Times Square), as well as additional AEG venues throughout the world.

StubHub, which earns money through charging a commission on tickets sold through the service, will share an unspecified percentage of these proceeds with AEG.

The deal will also see additional tie-ups between eBay and AEG in the future, including a storefront for AEG's music merchandise company, BandMerch setting up storefronts and operations on online auction website eBay.

StubHub will use a barcode system to facilitate secondary market ticket transactions, allowing them to cancel and reissue tickets to new buyers. AEG's president of ticketing and digital services Bryan Perez assured the Wall Street Journal that sourcing from tickets, whether secondary or primary market would be clearly indicated to customers. Perez also said it remained to be determined if revenue from secondary market sales would be considered part of a concert's gross. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
