29 Year Old Former Bassist For Emerson Drive Dies

MONTREAL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Patrick Bourque former bass player for Emerson Drive died this week very suddenly in his Montreal hom where he was living after he resigned Emerson Drive in August of this year.

Details surrounding his death have not been made available, according to publicist Vanessa Parker-Davis said in a statement.

According to CBC news, Bourque was in the band when it recorded its hit song, Moments, the first single by a Canadian band to hit No. 1 on the Billboard country chart.
Emerson Drive won three Canadian Country Music Awards, including best group, at the awards ceremony earlier this month in Regina.

The band started out in Grande Prairie, Alta., in 1995 as 12 Gauge, but changed its name after learning a U.S. rap group had the same name.

Its current members are singer Brad Mates, David Pichette on fiddle, Danick Dupelle on guitar, Mike Melancon on drums and Dale Wallace on keyboards.

Their fifth album, Countrified, released in September 2006 has brought them to the attention of Nashville, as well as the Canadian country scene.

"The brothers of Emerson Drive are shocked and grieving," the band said in a statement on its website. They learned of Bourque's death while traveling to a concert in Nebraska.

A concert Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas, has been cancelled.

Bourque was born Sept. 27, 1977, in Montreal and would have been 30 on Thursday. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
