Avengers: Endgame Breaks Records On Its Opening Day

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Disney’s “Avengers: Endgame” has broken the record for the biggest opening night in film history after it made an estimated $60 million from domestic theaters on Thursday night.

The proceeds topped the record held by another Disney property, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which in 2015, earned $57 million on its opening night, according to comScore.

“Endgame’s” prequel “Avengers: Infinity War” also did handsomely on its opening weekend, and earned 39 million for its preview showings in 2018 before it went on to a record-breaking $258 million domestic opening weekend.

Movie houses around the U.S. have ramped up to satisfy the demand for the film and on Monday, theater chain AMC revealed that seventeen of its locations in the US would stay open for 72 hours straight over the weekend to accommodate screenings.

“Endgame” is off to a roaring start internationally as well, and has earned more than $300 million internationally, including the world’s second-largest movie market China, where Endgame now holds the record for the biggest opening day.

“Endgame” is the finale of a decade-long storyline across multiple Marvel Comics Universe franchises. All told, Marvel Studio films have racked up more than $18.7 billion worldwide.

The three-hour “Endgame” has also proven to be a hit with critics and holds a 96% score on review site, Rotten Tomatoes.
