NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – Amazon Music has hired music industry veteran Adam Block in the newly-created position of Global Head of Music Catalog.

In this new role, Block will drive the catalog music strategy for Amazon Music, while continuing to build partnerships with labels and artists to expand and enhance their legacies in the streaming era.

Block joins Amazon Music following a 26-year career at Sony Music Entertainment where he served in various roles, including his most recent position as President, Legacy Recordings. As President of Legacy, Block established a global strategy for the management and marketing of Sony’s vast catalog of audio and visual assets, while building trusted relationships with artists, managers, and estates. During his tenure with the label, he also orchestrated award-winning digital content and campaigns for iconic recording artists; oversaw the creation of an online community celebrating classic R&B and Hip Hop (“Certified”); and co-produced award-winning projects for film and television.

Block began his career at EMI Music/EMI Records in the press and marketing departments.

He currently serves as a Co-Chair for the Asbury Park Music in Film Festival and is a founding partner of the Los Angeles-based music community, Jazz Is Dead.

Block will report to Ryan Redington, Director of Amazon Music, and will be based out of the company’s New York office.
