(CelebrityAccess) — Former teen pop icon Aaron Carter revealed that he’s grappling with a diagnosis of multiple mental illnesses.

In a preview video of a forthcoming episode of “The Doctors” obtained by TMZ, Carter, who is now 31, said that he’s been struggling with a host of mental maladies.

“The official diagnosis is that I suffer from multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety. I’m manic depressive,” Carter said in the video.

However, that is unlikely to be the ‘official diagnosis.’ ‘Multiple personality disorder’ is not a term used by clinicians, who instead refer to the condition as dissociative identity disorder.

Manic Depression is also an outdated term for a condition that medical professionals call bipolar disorder.

Carter, who began performing at the age of 7 with Dead End, a group of school mates from his home in Tampa, went on to tour with his brother Nick Carter and the Backstreet Boys and record hits such as “Crush on You” and “Crazy Little Party Girl.”

His second studio album, “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” sold more than 3 million copies in the U.S. alone.
