(CelebrityAccess) – Famed songwriter Allee Willis has passed away at the age of 72 after suffering cardiac arrest, according to her publicist.
Her death was confirmed by her partner Prudence Fenton in an Instagram post on December 25.
Willis is best known for writing the “Friends” theme song, Earth, Wind, & Fire’s songs “September” and “Boogie Wonderland,” and co-authoring the Broadway musical “The Color Purple.” She also wrote songs for Patti LaBelle (“Stir It Up”), the Pet Shop Boys (“What Have I Done to Deserve This”), the Pointer Sisters (“Neutron Dance”), and more.
Willis was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018.
She is survived by her partner, Prudence, her brother, Kent, and sister, Marlin.
