PARIS (CelebrityAccess) – Danish-born French New Wave actress Anna Karina passed away over the weekend following a battle with cancer.
Her death was confirmed by French Culture Minister Franck Riester in a Tweet Sunday (Dec. 15).
Riester descibed the acrtress (born Hanne Karin Blarke Bayer), as “radiant,” going on to say that “French cinema has lost one of its legends.”
Karina, who was the muse of Jean-Luc Godard, was best known for her roles in films including 1961’s “Une Femme Est Une Femme″ (A Woman is a Woman), 1962’s ”Vivre Sa Vie’” (Live Your Life), 1965’s “Pierrot Le Fou,” 1966’s “La Religieuse” (The Nun), and 1973’s “Vivre Ensemble″ (Living Together).”
She was 79.
