(Hypebot) — Dozens of programmers and creatives participated in a Capitol Music Group sponsored Hackathon during the Capitol Royale music conference last weekend in Hollywood.
Live music discovery and marketing platform Bandsintown offered first-ever access to their partner API for music tech app creation and mashups alongside fellow hackathon partners UMG, Bose, Hypno, Dolby and Cloudinary.
Aided by Jesse Ridgway, VP of Product Development of Bandsintown Group, the hackers worked through the night on Saturday.
On Sunday afternoon Kristin Yasuda, Bandsintown Head of Artist Partnerships chose three Bandsintown Challenge winners:
- First Prize: Chord (Drew Patel, Adeesh Parvathaneni, Benjamin Zimmerman) – “This was an immediate no brainer for me because they thought of an incentive for artists to use our platform more and engage fans,” said Yasuda. “Artists can entice fans to promote their new music, merch, tour, etc in exchange for rewards/prizes.”
- Second Prize: Crossroads (Patrick Dilanchian, Phillip Paik) – “I like how they integrated our API into Ford and Bose AR. When a fan is driving concert recommendations would pop up, based on their listening habits. The fan can save them and purchase tickets later when they’re not driving.”
- Third Prize: Cruise Collab (Jamey Dogom, Hector Lopez, Tommy Seo, Jose Avalos) – “Similar to Crossroads, they integrated our API with car travel and show dates generate as you got close to venues. But they also added exclusive pop-ups and party invites based on the fan’s current location and listener DNA. “
