LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Organizers for the Brit Awards announced that the long-running awards gala will be returning with a revised format for 2020.
The 40th annual Brit awards will take place on February 18t, 2020 and will be broadcast live from London’s O2 Arena via ITV.
“This year, we’ll be letting the artists fully take the reins by encouraging them to create and curate performances unique to them, which will guarantee memorable and showstopping moments in the 2020 show. We’re also reducing the number of awards on the night to just nine, meaning plenty more time on the night for music,” Brit organizers said in announcing the show’s return.
Part of the Brit Awards rework for 2020 includes a new slate of categories from which nominees will be selected by a vote from the 2020 Official Voting Academy made up of approximately 1200 music industry experts throughout the UK including artists, retailers, promoters, agents, publishers, labels, producers and media.
The 2020 category list includes:

Female Solo Artist
Best Group
Best New Artist (previously British Breakthrough Act)
Rising Star (previously the Critics’ Choice Award)
Song Of The Year (previously British Single)
Mastercard Album Of The Year
