MIAMI (CelebrityAccess) — Kodak Black, the South Florida rapper best known for hits such as “ZeZe” and “Tunnel Vision,” was sentenced to more than three years in prison after providing false information about his criminal record in order to purchase firearms.

Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was charged with providing false information while trying to purchase six pistols on two separate occasions.

One of the firearms was later found at the site of a shooting in Pompano Beach in March.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, U.S. District Court Judge Federico Moreno chastized Black during sentencing on Wednesday.

“Young people do stupid things,” Moreno told Black. “But the problem is that you’ve been doing stupid things since you were 15.”

The sentence was relatively light and Black could have faced up to 10 years in prison. The Associated Press reported that prosecutors pushed for at least eight years after Black was alleged to have been involved in a serious fight in jail that injured a corrections officer.

Black has been in custody in a federal detention facility since his arrest prior to the Rolling Loud music festival in Miami in May.
