NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Country music legend Jeannie Seely helped to honor veterans when she served as the Co-Grand Marshal at the annual Nashville Regional City Veterans Day Parade in Nashville.
Seely joined Military Co-Grand Marshal, LTG (ret) John Castellaw, USMC from Alamo, Tennessee, while Walter Bell, Davidson County Veterans Coordinating Council’s DAV Commander Chapter 3 served as the parade chairman.
“I was so proud to participate in the Veteran’s Day Parade in Nashville as the music Co-Grand Marshal. I am very proud to continue the tradition of my friend Jan Howard, who held this position for many years as a Gold Star Mother,” Seely said. “I honor her today along with all who served in the military and those who sacrificed at home. God Bless the USA!”
The parade hearkens back to the end of World War I when the holiday that became Veteran’s Day was known as Armistice Day and commemorated the formal cessation of major hostilities in Europe.
Veterans Day coincides with other holidays in other countries including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.
