LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Phillip Kovac, a long-time concert promoter, transportation executive, and artist manager, passed away in Los Angeles following a battle with a rare form of Parkinson’s, PSP.
Phillip, who was the brother of 10th Street Entertainment CEO and Eleven Seven Label Group founder Allen Kovac, began his career in the music business in the early ’70s. As a cofounder of concert company TDA Productions, he worked with a wide variety of artists including The Police, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, Dizzy Gillespie, Muddy Waters, Bob Hope, Boston, and Hall And Oats.
In 1983, Phillip moved to Los Angeles, to start first job as a talent booker and director for Florida Custom Coach. During his tenure with the company, which quickly rose to prominence within the industry, Phillip worked with over 100 artists including The Rolling Stones, U2, and Van Halen, among numerous others.
By the mid-’90s Phillip transitioned into artist management, founding Left Bank Nashville, and working with the likes of Clint Black, Deanna Carter, and Tracy Lawrence.
In the early 2000s, he moved back to Los Angeles to head up the touring division of 10th Street Management, where he worked with artists including Mötley Crüe, Blondie, Papa Roach, and Yes.
Phillip is survived by brothers Allen, Lawrence, and Lewis. Nephews Austin, Andrew, and Max, and a niece Jessica Lauren Kovac.
According to the Kovac family, he was laid to rest Sunday (Oct. 13) in Rouen, Texas, where he resided.
