SYDNEY, NSW (CelebrityAccess) — The government of New South Wales has revealed plans for a major refurb of ANZ Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.

The proposed $810 million (AUD) plan calls for the stadium’s capacity to be reduced by 15,000 to 70,000 for soccer events and 90,000 for concerts.

The plans also call for changing the shape of the stadium’s playing field from an oval to a rectangle. As well, seating in the lower an middle section of the stadium would be reconfigured into a steeper bowl to provide a better view of the field.

Sections of the roof of the stadium will be extended and replaced to ensure that all seats are covered from the weather.

The plan includes new entrances at both the northern and southern end of the stadium, along with improvements to the stadiums lighting, signage, and video screens.

The stadium’s amenities are included in the plans as well, with expanded concession offerings, as well as upgrades to sanitary facilities and the addition of new women’s lavatories.

The plans are currently posted on the government of NSW’s website during a period of public comment that closes on October 23rd.
