OSLO, Norway (CelebrityAccess) — Leif O. Ribe has been named as the next General Manager of Warner Music’s operation in Norway.
He will assume his new post effective January 1st and will report to Jonas Siljemark, President, Warner Music Nordics. Ivar Noer, the CFO of Warner Music Nordics, will continue as Acting Managing Director of Warner Music Norway until Ribe takes up his role.
Ribe comes to his new role from Sony Music Norway. He joined the label in 2009 as a Project Manager in the company’s Live Department. He was then promoted to International Product Manager, where he created and executed local marketing campaigns for artists including Beyoncé, Britney Spears, David Bowie, J. Cole, and One Direction.
Ribe continued his ascent with a promotion to Domestic Marketing Director, while also signing and A&Ring artists including Jesper Jenset, Katastrofe, Marcus & Martinus, Staysman & Lazz and Tungevaag & Raaban. He then became A&R Director, helping grow the company’s market share in domestic repertoire and handled A&R and international strategy for Nordic pop phenomenon Marcus & Martinus.
Ribe began his music industry career back in 2005, working at music retailer Platekompaniet while acting as co-manager for Norwegian hip hop artist Chris Lie. A stint in the US followed, where he studied for a Master’s in Music Business at New York University, while also interning at RCA Records and Columbia Records.
In addition to a Master’s degree in Music Business from New York University, Ribe holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Marketing from BI Norwegian Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Oslo.
